MARCHESA BROKE MY HEART

Will this rain ever stop!? Blah! Yesterday I went to the movies and saw World War Z. Not only is Brad Pitt good to look at, but the movie was very good! I def recommend. My look for the casual day was skinnies by Lauren Conrad for Kohl's, fab flats and tank from Target and my awesome Michael Kors sweater steal from TJ Maxx.

Today I finally made it to Gilt! The SECOND I walked through the doors I immediately noticed and made a bee line to this gorgeous gown. I.die.

Find a beautiful dress: score. Find a beautiful dress by Marchesa: double score. Find a beautiful dress by Marchesa that is one of the most expensive items in the store: failure. Ugh.. this beauty was originally over $6000, marked down to $3500 and then you get an extra 60% off. Still too much moolah for me. Enter sad face. I think I'm just going to stalk the store until they mark it down. ha! I dunno if it will every reach my price point. Such is life... ugh! I know it is a little different, but this picture does NOT do it justice. It is a piece of art, I tell ya!!

Mi madre is in town with me so after Gilt and a Barnes & Noble run through (we are both major book worms), we hit up Jason's Deli for lunch. I had never been before but have heard amazing things. Well, it definitely lived up to the hype! SO good!

The, "Nutty Mixed-Up Salad" is to die for! We both got one of these bad boys and ended up putting the Cuban Panini in a to-go box for later tonight. I will definitely be frequenting this place more often!

Another stop we made was Penzeys Spices. My first thought was, "really, a shop of spices?". Well, this place is totally awesome!! It makes you want to go home and whip up the most amazing meals in the world! A lot of the spices are accompanied with recipes to use them in and every spice has a special jar next to it so you can smell the spice. Very neat store and I'm glad we stopped in!

Got a long night of couch laying and movie watching ahead!

OHH HONEY, HONEY

Happy Monday! Anyone check out the Gilt location in Louisville yet?! I haven't gotten around to it, but definitely plan on it! Our weekend included a nice night out on the town and some bee keeping. Yup, you read that correctly, bee keeping. A long time friend of the hubs' has an apiary (I think I'm using that term correctly, ha) and we helped him remove some of the boxes so we could extract the honey. O.M.G. was this interesting! I had so much fun, but there were also moments of intense fear.

So here was my look for the day, lol! Sweats, a bee keeper suit and gloves. Looking at this picture you would never guess that I would wind up with a bee in my hood, ripping my suit off and frantically running circles around a field whilst beating my head with my hands because a bee was stuck in my hair. Yep, this is truth. I swear if it was video taped it would have gone viral! The hubs and our friend wound up getting stung several times too. Needless to say, we pissed the bees off... badly.

Some of the boxes we escaped with. This is where the slabs are kept that the bees store the honey on. They sit in the boxes like a hanging file. The hubs using a special tool to pop the slabs out. They get really sticky and don't slide out easily on their own.

Cutting the tops of the honeycomb off and dumping it in this bucket. It collects the wax while letting the excess honey drop to the container below. Nothing gets wasted in this process!

The slabs are then placed in the centrifuge and spun until the honey comes off of them and flows through the filter into a bucket. I learned a lot that day!!! It is amazing how you can just eat it immediately. Very yummy!! Anyone in the area that wants some local honey (supposed to help with allergies) let me know! He wound up with A LOT of honey!

Now on to some fashion from the night before our honey extravaganza!

Twisted hair, PINK lips (cover girl).

Stella & Dot Swag. Bello Bangle and Christina Link Bracelet. Love! The Christina is a special little gem because this beauty can be worn as a bracelet or an extender for most necklaces. Imagine a high sleeked back bun and the Christina blinging on the back of your neck, giving length to a fabulous necklace. Gorg!

High-low top from Forever 21 with a sewn on gold metal plate. This fab tank has an attached tank and sheer overlay. So comfy and chic! Fab white skinny jeans by Celebrity Pink from TJ Maxx and wedges from Charlotte Russe.

My love!

Anyone who has been to Gilt yet leave a comment and tell me how it was!!

Good Night!

THOUGHTS OF THURSDAY

Ready for the weekend? I am! And don't forget that tomorrow is the opening of Gilt, the discount designer website turned pop up store that I mentioned yesterday. Not sure when I will be stopping by, but I'll be sure to tell everyone all about it. I really just want to see how good the deals are. Not going with any sort of game plan or intent to get anything in particular. But, we shall see!

No week would be complete without some Polyvore love! Just some things I am loving lately: Pretty jewels, fun shades of lipstick and colorful eyes.

And on to my casual look for today. Skinny jeans from TJ Maxx by Seven, comfy tee from Target, Sandals from New York & Co and my fab bag that was an Anniversary gift from the hubs. Love!

Rocked a side twist and low bun. Easy yet cute!

Time to relax with the hubs. We are catching up on Mad Men seasons because we never watched the show before. Love it so far!

GUILTY FOR GILT

Some very exciting news my Louisville friends! Gilt, a website FULL of designer discounted goodies for men, women and kids is having a, "pop up" store location!!! From what I have read, when Gilt does have a pop up store it is typically only a few days. Well, the one here in Louisville is going to be open for ONE MONTH! Eeek! For a nano second I debated on blogging about this because I wanted to keep this gem to myself. But after my nano second of evil-good-deal-hiding-thoughts, I snapped out of it and said heck no, I'm telling EVERYONE! It opens June 28. :)

Yummy dinner last night. Spinach, feta, almond slivers, purple onion, shredded turkey, tomato, craisins, balsamic vinaigrette and a side of seasoned fresh green beans. Topped this beauty of a meal off with some Dove Dark Chocolate. My fav!

And as for tonight? The hubs and I had one of our favorites: Chicken and rice! It is one of the recipes off the Campbell's Cream of Mushroom can, and it is SO yummy! Paired with Salad and some of those left over green beans. And no, we do not eat perfectly prepared and perfectly plated meals every night. The hubs is typically used to a sandwich or some cereal, ha!! Especially when I'm working 12 hour shifts!

Now on to that amazing family photo shoot we had on our 3 year anniversary! We had the wonderful, Brittany Bowen, come to our home and it was SO much fun! I have dreamed of doing a in-home photo session and it finally became a reality. Brittany is one of my fab coworkers' daughters and is taking her love for photography and making it her living. After checking out some of Brittany's work, I knew I needed to jump on the opportunity before she got too busy! And it was by chance that our anniversary happened to be a good day for us and for Brittany, so we got some nice shots of us with some of our wedding mementos as well. Here are some of my favorites!!

Cheers to three years!
