NY&CO CAPE FIND

Wow, I've been MIA on the little 'ol blog here! Don't fret, I haven't been running around town naked whilst having a fashion meltdown. The cold hard truth is.... a case of the lazies. Yup, diagnosed and all. Well, that is about to get kicked to the curb because I have a lot of bloggin to do! And on the agenda for today is this cape sweater. Swoon!

This beauty has faux leather detailing, loose turtle neck and is super long. I am in love! This was picked up at New York & Co on sale for $39! They have it in four different tempting colors. Online they are running a sale but it looks like only three of the four colors are available. In-store they also had burgundy in addition to grey, tan and black.

The look was completed with my Apt 9 black leggings and Payless rider boots. Oh, and that fabulous leather cross body purse: Stella & Dot of course! It is so freaking cute, adjustable length and can even be just a clutch. They think of everything! It is the Tia Cross Body Bag in the color cerise. Such a beauty! And it is perfect for two of the biggest sports teams/schools in my life: St. Louis Cardinals and the Louisville Cardinals. Reppin that red, baby!

Have a great night! Walking Dead is on soon, whoop whoop!

MIDI SKIRT MADNESS

Oh Sundays, you come too soon! And on top of that, here in Louisville we are about to get slammed with an awful mix of ice and snow. Boo! I usually don't mind a good winter storm if it is on a Friday or Saturday, but when it doesn't hit until Sunday it only causes a headache for Monday morning. Blah!

Friday night the hubs and I went out for Sushi at on of our favorite places, Drake's (in the Summit). Most people probably only think of Drake's as a place to get drunk and dance, but they actually have a very delicious menu including Aqua, their sushi bar.

I was in an edgy kind of mood and decided to rock my new midi skirt and a faux leather tee. If we were going to be hitting the town and staying out longer than just dinner I probably would have worn a crop top with this skirt. But for just a dinner I opted to be more casual and wear the tee tucked in.

I am obsessed with this skirt and blogged about it when I purchased it from Target. It is comfortable, simple, flattering and affordable. What more could you ask for! Even though the combination of a crop top and midi skirt is very trendy and fashionable at the moment, it also is going to be a long lasting fashion staple. I hate to use the word trendy for this look because it is usually synonymous with short, but this IS trendy at the moment but will also LAST. To get to my point, a midi skirt is a good closet staple and investment.

This necklace was one of my very first purchases from Stella & Dot when I joined as a stylist. There aren't big enough "caps" on my computer to get the point across when I say I am OB-sessed with it. It is the epitome of bad-ass. The mix of metals and the blue threading that is weaved between is just so beautiful. The only downfall, and I am not even sure if this is a downfall, is that it is heavy. To me though, that just proved that I was getting my money's worth! Truly a piece of art!

Stella & Dot: Femme Fatale Necklace

Faux leather top from Forever 21. Chic, simple, comfy and versatile! I couldn't find this particular top online anymore, but there are many just like it out there! And the fab black suede heels are from Charlotte Russe. They are ALWAYS running a BOGO sale so if you happen to hop on the website and their isn't one, wait a day, maybe even just an hour, and their will be.

And for a comfy Saturday night at the house I opted for an oversized sweater from Forever 21, black leggings by APT. 9 for Kohl's and my Payless rider boots.

Still loving my ombre hair! Cannot believe I waited so long to experiment with my hair! So fun!

I CAME, I SAW

I conquered.... a little. As expected, the main dress and blazer that I wanted to see in person from the Peter Pilotto for Target collection were not in-store and both sold out online. Boo. BUT, I snagged two beautiful pieces from the collection, and a little extra sumthin' sumthin' I had my eye on for a week or so.

The fit of this dress is so flattering and it is extremely comfortable! I actually am going to end up with this same dress but the teal version! Blues are definitely more flattering on me than red tones. When I got home from Target I hopped on their website just to see what all was missing from my in-store experience and low and behold this dress, but in the teal version, was still available online!! So I went ahead and ordered the teal version and swung back to Target after my workout to return this one. Score!

Peter Pilotto for Target- Belted Dress

This is the version that will soon be in my closet. Yay!

The socks (and my pastey white skin) definitely do not enhance the look, but hey, this girl is not about to wear heels into Target when she is on a mission. Not happening!

So the skirt on the left is the other piece of the Peter Pilotto collection that I picked up. It is high wasted, to the knee and super cute.

The skirt to the right is a match for the mesh long sleeve top. It is super sleek, has a mesh overlay down the sides and I LOVE it! The mesh top is clearly, uhh, mesh- So some sort of cropped tank or bustier will be needed for that one! I guess you could always go Kim K. style and rock the completely exposed bra, but I would feel more comfortable being a little more covered.

Xhilaration for Target- Scuba Skirt w Mesh Panel
Xhilaration for Target- Mesh Cropped Sweatshirt

As for last night, comfort was key. Side braid, Forever 21 faux fur, Target flannel, Lauren Conrad for Kohl's skinnies and Payless rider boots!

According to the Stella & Dot website the, "On The Mark" necklace will ship April 8th, aka it is very popular!

Stella & Dot- One The Mark Necklace
Stella & Dot- Christina Link Bracelet
Stella & Dot- Valor Studs- No longer Available

And as for tonight's agenda, WALKING DEAD!! Yay!! We have waited so long for its return and finally the day has come. Eek!

LEFTOVER LOVE

I know I'm a little late to the, "Thanksgiving Post" game, but here is my recap:

Forever 21 sweater with fab shoulder cut outs and some Stella & Dot jewels

Sorry about the dog hair in the above pic, ha! Sure love my doggies! I paired this flowy and longer length sweater with some black Apt 9 for Kohl's leggings and these fabulous fringed wedge boots from Charlotte Russe.

Waved my hair with the AH-mazing CHI Waver and finished it off with some purple lips.

Winston and Charlie looked very sharp in their new sweaters my mom surprised them with when we arrived at my parents' house. Too cute!

Notice my nephew going in for the kill? Charlie doesn't even see it coming... lol

This picture pretty much sums up Charlie and Winston's feelings on being bothered by a 3 year old boy. Too funny!

This is the best pic I could get out of the men. Their version of a good photo...

And ours

After our Thanksgiving meal we moved the left overs off the table and to the kitchen.. Yum! I am SO mad at myself for not getting a pic of my Mom's beautiful dining room table set up for Thanksgiving! Fine China, champagne flutes.. you name it. Annnnd I failed to get a pic. Grrr

Friday called for comfy and thick holiday leggings and a flowy tee from Forever 21. I am OB-sessed with these leggings! So warm and comfortable!

And no Friday after Thanksgiving would be complete without some tree decorating (the hubs and my Dad stringing some lights) and....

LEFTOVERS!

And Saturday the ladies and I took to the streets of Kimswick, MO to get our holiday shopping on! Kimswick has the cutest little shops with some of the most adorable holiday decor and gifts imaginable.

I rocked my Old Navy fox sweater, Payless rider boots and some black skinny jeans.

Not only is Kimswick known for their little holiday shops, they are probably more known for The Blue Owl.

Damn good food, even better pies!

Yes, that is their famous, "Levee High Apple Pie" in honor of those who helped with sandbags and made a levee to protect Kimswick in the great flood of '93. I didn't end up getting a slice of this beauty (or purchasing the mini version) but next time I think I might have to try it!

After our trip to St. Louis we made it home Sunday just in time to get our tree and some decorations up. This gorgeous glittered bird was one of my amazing finds in Kimswick. Love it!

More holiday decor pics to come!

FAIR WARNING

Ok ladies (and gentlemen), this is a very important message-

H&M is opening their doors at noon on November 14th in Oxmoor Mall and the first 200 shoppers will get prizes! I have been waiting for Louisville to get an H&M and am ecstatic that the moment has finally arrived!!! I know that I am an avid Forever 21 girl, but there is room in my heart for more than one kick ass store.

And now for the second service announcement: This is a very random post with random topics. I guess I've had a random kind of weekend?!

Moving on, the hubs and I made these homemade pizzas (from Earth Fare) the other night and they were freakin' AH-mazing! To get the hubs' seal of approval on a junk food alternative is a massive deal. Just sayin'.

Mmm..... we added cheese, banana peppers, black olives and turkey-ronis. Yum!

I got a little too excited and didn't realize until this point that I did not snap a post cooking pic. Here ya go!

We snagged this beauty while at Home Depot and the birds are loving it! I'm glad the hubs appreciates the silly small things too :)

I replenished some of my makeup essentials. I have always been a Cover Girl person. It hasn't failed me yet so why change? I do branch out when buying eye shadows and make up brushes, but 90% of my stuff is CG. Creature of habit I guess!

I really need to get one of those makeup organizers. This is what a good, organized makeup drawer day looks for me. And it doesn't stay this way for long. Ha!

And lastly, my look for a chill night with some of the hubs' family. Stella & Dot necklace, Apt 9 for Kohl's sweater and leggings, Payless rider boots and Forever 21 basic black long tank. Comfy for sure! And nothing pairs with comfy clothes like food on the grill, a fire pit and some beer.

DESIGNATION FOR KOHLS

High fashion meets Kohls. Umm.... yes!! I know this collection has been out for several days now, but I finally got the chance to check it out in person the other day. Catherine Malandrino for DesigNation Clothing at Kohl's. Talk about a mouth full! This collection is full of parisian inspired statement pieces and is gorgeous! Unfortunately, my Kohls did not have all the pieces in the collection (sad face), but the items they did have were super fab! It would be silly to show EVERY item on the 'ol blog, so I picked a few. BUT, I wanted to show them all because it was really hard to pick favorites. Ch-ch-check it out!

While perusing the racks, I came across two items that I could not pass up! And, no shopping at Kohls can be done without a killer sale paired with a coupon. Score! This cardigan has some faux leather detailing on it, which is something I am OB-sessed with lately. Love!

And this fab bag has a Chanel-esqueness about it. Love!

PHILLIP LIM RECAP

Did anyone make it to Target for the release of the collection by Phillip Lim?!?! I swung by and was actually a little disappointed that there weren't more items in-store. Maybe my Target had just been picked through already, but to me it seemed a little lacking. From what I hear, sales have been booming though! I'm still sitting back, taking it all in, and deciding if there is anything from this line that I just can't live without. One item that I really liked and was able to actually try it on in the store was this top. I put it down so I could, like I said, take it all in.

Sparkle Peplum

And the other item that I am loving but is not available in-store (ugh, hate that!) is this:

Sequin Dress

To be continued...

Looks from the weekend:

Baggy hoodie from Target that I got on sale, Apt 9 for Kohl's leggings, Forever 21 tank and faux leather jacket and my beloved Payless rider boots. Love! Oh, and of course, some Stella & Dot arm candy!

Forever 21 dress (several years old) and faux leather jacket with heels by Candie's for Kohl's. Love! I paired this pretty little dress with a studded belt that I removed from one of my other Forever 21 dresses and then added my jacket for some at-ti-tude!

And lastly, you guessed it, Forever 21 top, Candie's for Kohl's heels and my pants that were a clearance rack steal by Narciso Rodriguez for Kohl's. I actually got these pants a few months ago and low and behold, they are online still AND for the discounted price! Also come in red! Love!

And for no particular reason, my handsome boy, Charlie, patrolling the neighborhood from the safety of our home... he's so tough.... ha!

These two beauties were found at Walmart for a whopping $5! They look so elegant and add an extra touch of class to my candles! The one above is also a Walmart brand candle, Pumpkin Spice!! It smells SO good and envelopes my entire home in the scent of Fall. Love it! And, it is significantly cheaper than Yankee Candle, which used to be one of my favorite candle brands, until I branched out to the Walmart ones. When not in any particular season, I usually go for their vanilla scented one, which also smells delicious!

Speaking of Pumpkin Spice, or anything Fall related for that matter....

Certified crazy? Maybe....  :)
