PRABAL GURUNG STEAL

One thing I am always in search of is a good deal. Even when famous designers collaborate with affordable stores, the price point still might not be where you want it. Enter exhibit A: this amazing silky button down by Prabal Gurung for Target was snatched up by yours truly after his collaboration had been in the store for a couple weeks and things were starting to find their way to the clearance section. I scored it for a fraction of the cost and that made the deal much sweeter. Obviously this tactic does not always work, and I was fortunate to find not only the top I wanted on clearance, but the size I needed. Nonetheless, it worked out for me and had it not, I would have just deemed it not meant to be.

So classy, comfortable and fun! Paired with my most favorite brand of faux leather pants, Rock & Republic for Kohl's and Charlotte Russe black platforms. Ugh, love! And of course, the jewelry. Who could forget the JEWELRY! Stella & Dot's Sumervell Necklace is seriously all you need in life. Seriously! It comes in four different versions, but this classic one totally stole my attention when it was first released. OB-sessed!

Thankfully at the last minute I tossed on a faux fur vest. It is starting to get chilly at night these days! Last year I zeroed in on a want need of mine and that was more faux fur vests in a variety of colors. This beauty was one of my selections from Forever 21 and is definitely a staple item that will be with me for years to come. And for the price (under $50) I was able to realistically get more than one. I get so many compliments any time I wear one of my fur vests! I know faux fur can seem a little scary at first for some, but once you wear it a few times and get comfortable with the look you will realize they really are great pieces to have in your closet. Mark my words: you WILL get a compliment ;)

I CAME, I SAW

I conquered.... a little. As expected, the main dress and blazer that I wanted to see in person from the Peter Pilotto for Target collection were not in-store and both sold out online. Boo. BUT, I snagged two beautiful pieces from the collection, and a little extra sumthin' sumthin' I had my eye on for a week or so.

The fit of this dress is so flattering and it is extremely comfortable! I actually am going to end up with this same dress but the teal version! Blues are definitely more flattering on me than red tones. When I got home from Target I hopped on their website just to see what all was missing from my in-store experience and low and behold this dress, but in the teal version, was still available online!! So I went ahead and ordered the teal version and swung back to Target after my workout to return this one. Score!

Peter Pilotto for Target- Belted Dress

This is the version that will soon be in my closet. Yay!

The socks (and my pastey white skin) definitely do not enhance the look, but hey, this girl is not about to wear heels into Target when she is on a mission. Not happening!

So the skirt on the left is the other piece of the Peter Pilotto collection that I picked up. It is high wasted, to the knee and super cute.

The skirt to the right is a match for the mesh long sleeve top. It is super sleek, has a mesh overlay down the sides and I LOVE it! The mesh top is clearly, uhh, mesh- So some sort of cropped tank or bustier will be needed for that one! I guess you could always go Kim K. style and rock the completely exposed bra, but I would feel more comfortable being a little more covered.

As for last night, comfort was key. Side braid, Forever 21 faux fur, Target flannel, Lauren Conrad for Kohl's skinnies and Payless rider boots!

According to the Stella & Dot website the, "On The Mark" necklace will ship April 8th, aka it is very popular!

And as for tonight's agenda, WALKING DEAD!! Yay!! We have waited so long for its return and finally the day has come. Eek!

SATURDAY STYLE

Lately I have been loving on simplistic looks with an edge to them. I know my fur vests may not be considered, "simplistic", but in actuality they are! To me a fur vest or a leather jacket are staple pieces that go with anything. At first they might seem out of your comfort zone, but once you get used to it you will realize how versatile and casual they actually can be!

Here are a couple Polyvore creations of mine with my latest inspirations: effortless edge and  comfortably chic!

My dream flare leg jeans to complete this look are by Paige Denim and come in at around $200. The pair in this set are from Windsor and are $29... get my drift? I'm sure the Paige Denim ones are FAB-ulous, but I seem to fall in and out of love with my jeans rather quickly and want the freedom to swap out without feeling the dent in my wallet.

Anyways, today the hubs and I hit the movie theater and effortless and comfortably chic was my inspiration.

Faux fur vest and V-neck long sleeve top both by Forever 21, skinny jeans by Lauren Conrad for Kohl's and black rider boots from Payless. Fab!

See! A fur vest can be worn for any occasion, big or small! It just depends on what you pair it with!

Have a great Saturday! I am still laying low due to this terrible cold and potential snow heading our way! Eeek!

FAUX FUR FRIDAY

Here's to the weekend! I spent my Friday morning taking down decorations, the afternoon with some lovely ladies from work followed by a relaxing night on the couch with the hubs. Both of us are under the weather and hanging at home seemed like our idea of a perfect Friday night. Don't judge! The doggies were definitely happy with the decision- they greatly dislike being left alone at the house!

I hate taking down our Christmas cards. It just makes it official that the holidays are over. Boo.

For late lunch/early dinner (Linner?) with my work girls, I went for some faux fur. It is COLD here in good 'ol Louisville so it just felt appropriate.

And just because my night started off fabulous doesn't mean it ended that way! Sweatpants, baggy T-shirt, glasses, blanket and my boys- Ahhhh.... Oh, and this:

Lightly seasoned popcorn with mini dark chocolate chips on top. Wow, this combo is pretty damn good! Just make sure the chips are added immediately once you place the popcorn in your bowl. They become nice and gooey! Mmm, mmmm.

Hope your Friday was more exciting then mine! ;)

HALLOWEEN FLOP

Did everyone have a Happy Halloween?! The weather here was terrible, so we only had a handful of trick or treaters. Boo. Trick or treaters were encouraged to postpone their candy collecting to today or tomorrow. I knew that there would still be some courageous kids out there so we were prepared with candy anyways.

Charlie did not like the wind (or the few people that did come to our house) so he had to watch guard. So silly!

As much as I dislike how this windy, wet and cold weather messed with Halloween, I am SO ready for the cold weather to come so I can break out some faux fur. If you follow me on Instagram then you probably saw this pic yesterday. Yes, I have a faux fur vest problem! Ha! But, when those vests are coming from Forever 21 then it is totally affordable! No joke, these are heavy duty and made very well. I am BEYOND pleased with them. Each one is under $40. Cannot.beat.that. I linked the first three in this pic already on the blog so check them out here.

Some eats lately:

Spinach, turkey, feta, onion, almonds and pepperoncinis with a side of half a sweet potato with some cinnamon on top. Yum!

Zucchini, squash, spinach, feta, onion, almond and grilled chicken.

And lastly, vegetable spaghetti! Instead of a carb loaded pasta meal I decided to cook up a bag of frozen stir fry veggies in some olive oil, pepper, sea salt and garlic powder. Topped with some beef, pasta sauce and Parmesan. To those that turn their head, give it a try! The hubs used some whole wheat pasta because he is NOT willing to give it a try. ha! Win some, lose some.

Have a great Halloween weekend!
