FOOD FINDS

Oh Monday.... blah. At least I was off work today, which makes tomorrow my Monday I guess.    Can it just be Friday? Or better yet, can it just be Thursday, because that is when one of my sisters, Holly, gets in town to visit for the weekend! Cannot wait! Not sure what all we are going to do, but some fun will be had :) So since today consisted of cleaning my house and hitting up the grocery store, I'll share a few of my finds that I am excited about.

I haven't tried this stuff yet, but I am sure it will be good! It makes me so happy that my regular grocery has so many natural and/or organic options! Although I have been drinking way more tea as opposed to coffee these days, I want a natural option of creamer for my occasional cup of joe.

I picked this up at Earth Fare today. I hit up my regular grocery and Earth Fare today because there were a few things in particular that I can only find there. I am so excited to make these pizzas! What a cute package. It is a made by a company called Gallo Lea and they have Gluten Free, Whole Wheat and Low Sodium crust options. I went for the whole wheat. Yum! I'll be sure to share how it turns out whenever we decide to eat it!

Lunch consisted of this yummy salad and the other half of a Luna Bar that i had picked at earlier today. Spinach, orange, purple onion, craisins, feta and raspberry vinaigrette.

I also picked up these two pieces of chicken at Earth Fare for dinner tonight. Mine was stuffed with feta and basil, the hubs' was stuffed with a pizza concoction. They were SO good. Purchased fresh and popped them in the oven when I got home. We are going to be getting this again, for sure!

Well, that's all I got for today! Unless you want to see pictures of my clean house. haha My days are not always exciting and fashion filled, but hey, that's life!  :)

GRAMMY SUNDAY

Hey Hey! Who's watching the Grammy's?! Let's be honest, I only care about the performances.... and the fashion ;)

Today I made my way to Target to check out the Prabal Gurung collection, and although I thought it was cute and fun, I didn't end up buying anything. The blazer that I was dying over didn't really impress in person. I was hoping it would be made of a satin-like material but it was cotton and just didn't really strike me like it did in the ad. We will see, maybe in a few days I'll go back and check it out again. Did any of you get something from the collection?!

After I left Target I swung by TJ Maxx, not for any particular reason but because I hadn't been in a while. Gosh I love that store! I snagged this super freaking cute cotton top with faux leather shoulders and faux leather pocket. And another item I got a HUGE deal on.. drum roll please.... a Michael Kors open front sweater originally $150 for $29. I die. There were SO MANY MK purses there too that I had to walk away. I can make an impulse buy at $29, but these purses are all still in  the $100+ range and I was not about to do that! Check out my steals!

Dinner tonight was of the salad variety with some shredded turkey. Mmmm. I also found this gem by Bolthouse Farms at my local grocery and decided to buy the mini bottle to see if it was good before I took the plunge and bought the big container. Verdict? pretty darn good! They have several different mixes and flavors, so I am excited to try them out.

And another great find that I stumbled upon at the checkout line was this new flavor of gum. I love how Extra has all these dessert flavors! And all the ones I have had are on point in the flavor department. Crazy how they can do that! This one was a must buy for me because my mom makes the most delicious, "Gooey Butter Cake", and I wanted to see how the gum lived up to it. Obviously, nothing can replace the actual dessert, but this was still really good!

Short and sweet post. Gotta get back to my Grammy watching!

POLYVORE PICKS

Happy Super Bowl Sunday! I am praying to the "on-call" fairies that I can stay on-call all day and not get brought in to work. Since it is hard to fall back asleep due to the impending doom chance that you might get called in to work, I am blogging and playing on Polyvore while the hubs snoozes away upstairs. At least I have Charlie keeping me company.

Here are some more looks I created on Polyvore, plus another template I created. It is so much fun to be able to create any look you want from any store/designer you want. So fab! So fun! These sets are made up of styles from Lauren Conrad for Kohl's, Rock & Republic for Kohl's, Forever 21, Charlotte Russe, Victoria's Secret and Stella and Dot. Check it out!

Last night we had another chill night with the company of wine, cheese and naan. Naan is basically a pita bread (in my opinion) and it.is.delicious. I sprinkled a tiny bit of water on each Naan and popped them in the oven for 2 minutes at 400 degrees. Cut up some organic apples and the hubs' Dad's cheese= Mmm Mmm...

I wanted to have something chocolatey for dessert and healthy at the same time, so I decided to check out the organic section at my grocery. Surprisingly, there were a TON of options. Unfortunately, only one could be chosen... ha. This was my pick, and  the hubs approved. I wasn't sure how they would turn out because, lets be honest, most desserts tend to be best enjoyed the good ol calorie bomb way. But low and behold, these were delicious, moist, good size AND healthy! Score!

Here was my look for the night. Casual, comfy and cute. Loving these thick leggings from Kohl's by Apt 9, rider boots from Payless, flannel shirt from Target and jewels by Stella & Dot. Love! Had to snap some pics of my handsome doggies, too!

Hopefully I will be enjoying the Super Bowl from the comfort of my home, not at work! haha

STELLA SNEAK

As promised, I've got some sneak peaks at my Stella & Dot jewels from the Spring/Summer 2013 collection. Of course there is way more than just these pieces, but these are the ones I chose for my personal collection.

Before we get to all that, here is a peak at my day.

Quick and light breakfast before hitting the gym. I like CLIF Mojo bars so much that I was literally looking forward to getting up this AM so I could eat mine. Yum! Workout for today was a quick run, abs, squats and some arm machines. Nothing beats a good sweat sesh!

After hitting the gym I grabbed a few things from the grocery to add to my "clean" foods. I put quite a few things back on the shelf (reluctantly) because I am really trying to not buy things that we still have in our pantry. Ugh. At least I have a lot of new items to look forward to trying. So, here is what I did get. Surprisingly, the organic apples were cheaper than the non-organic! I did a double take because I feel like this NEVER happens. I swore I was seeing it wrong. ha! All of these items were pretty on point with the prices of their non-organic counterpart, so I didn't have any guilt when checking out! Funny how money makes us feel guilty, but no the fact that we could be buying loads of unhealthy additives... Anyways, check it out!

My style for today was comfy. Cute sweats, tank and short sleeve hoodie. I was just laying low at the house so saw no need to get any more dressed up then this! Remember, it's not ALWAYS about being glammed out :)  For lunch I was craving some cereal. I am a cereal fanatic and would literally eat it for every meal if I could. These plums were a delicious ending to my lunch. YUM!

I also wanted to share with everyone that The Real Real is having a 50% off promotion right now! Just use code "January50". If you don't remember, The Real Real is a consignment website for high end fashion. The items can still be pretty pricey, but if you really love something (and it's 50% off) then it may be worth it to you. The kicker though? The sale ends TONIGHT at midnight. I won't be partaking, but you might want to!

So for dinner tonight, I decided to try something different. Cauliflower crust pizza! Now, I am definitely tweaking the way I do it next time, but it was good enough to eat :)  I found the recipe here. Basically, finely chop up one head of cauliflower and microwave for 8 minutes. Then mix one cup of the cauliflower with an egg, cheese, garlic, oregano and some olive oil. Bake at 450 for 15 min. Top with sauce and your choice of toppings and broil for 4-5 minutes. I chose to top mine with a tomato and basil sauce, purple onion, black olives and tomato chunks. Next time, I think I am going to use less cheese in my crust and I am not going to line my cookie sheet with foil. My crust stuck to the foil so badly that I ended up eating most of it with a fork, scraping the crust off of the foil. Fail. It tasted very good though, so I am definitely trying it again!

Now on to what you all have been waiting for... Stella&Dot goodies!! No words needed, just pics!! As always, if you are interested in anything, contact me through the blog (just leave me a comment!) or contact me here

Have a great night! We are supposed to have some pretty harsh thunderstorms tonight so everyone in the area be safe! I LOVE thunderstorms at night when you are all cozy and in bed!

DATE NIGHT IN

Hey Hey! How was every one's weekend? I started my Sunday out with a good sweat session at the gym and some cleaning around the house. I can't wait to relax on the couch tonight and watch all my brain poison reality shows! No shame!

So, last night the hubs and I hung out at home with some wine and cheese. It was nice to just chill at home. As much as going out and getting all glammed up is fun, staying at home is just as nice. It was a Victoria's Secret slouchy tank, black leggings and flat boots kind of night for me. And, once again, the bun maker made it's appearance. I know I have been rocking this look a lot lately, but it is just so damn cute and so freaking easy. It has spoiled me for sure!

The cheese we ate is actually made from the milk at the Hubs' Dad's dairy farm. And it is delicious! (not just saying that, ha) I think my favorite is the "Rustica" Smoked. Mmm...

And of course the night had to be topped off with this (and the rest of the wine). Not organic, not exactly healthy, but what the heck! 80/20 people!

This top is so comfy! Love! The hubs thought I looked like I stepped out of an 80's music video. Not sure if that is a compliment or not, haha. He did follow that statement with a comment about it looking cute or something, so I guess it was alright by him. lol

Charlie and Winston were not pleased with not getting to eat any of the cheese. Sorry boys! Charlie won't even look at the camera... ha

Breakfast this AM was just some plain oats cereal, stevia and almond milk. For lunch I decided to go for some eggs, omelet style. One whole egg, two egg whites, smidge of milk, diced tomato, diced purple onion, little bit of kale and diced jalapeƱos. I cooked it on the stove top in a skillet and then topped it with some salsa. YUM!

Dinner tonight was another one of my veggie filled salads that I've mentioned a lot recently. This, too, was followed by some chocolaty love. Justin's love that is....organic dark chocolate peanut butter cup.  Oh, and don't think my nut medley (walnuts, almonds, cashews and brazil nuts) escaped me today. SO good and such a great go to snack!

And lastly, another one of my organic finds at my grocery. Nothing beats some raisins!

Hope you all have a great Sunday night. I'm about to get cozy on the couch. Just need to peel myself away from it for a minute to put my pj's on. E! News' red carpet coverage of the SAG awards is sucking me in...

FAB FOOD FARE

Hey Hey! Hanging with the hubs watching some basketball... story of my life lately! So the info on my wedding jewelry is going to be postponed to later this week. Don't have enough time at the moment to sort through wedding photos to find the best ones of my jewels, so I'll wait until I have enough time to do it the right way! :)

Recently I have decided to try and eat a little more, "clean". By no means am I going to be able to be an ALL organic, ALL the time kind of person, but I figure if two of my three main meals are, "clean" then that's not too shabby! I tend to eat light breakfasts and lunches, surrounded by snacks, and then a normal dinner. Hopefully it won't be too difficult. The hubs gave me that look at first, like, the "are you serious" look. But now (after a couple days, ha) I think he is on board, a little. Hey, it's a start!

Since I am trying to clear out some of our not so "clean" food items, it was only necessary to polish off our peanut butter container (since I am trying organic almond butter next) with some overnight oats. Overnight oats are something that I have seen a lot of in the blog world. And when a jar of your favorite nut butter is almost gone, it is the mac daddy of overnight oats because otherwise, they would just be in a normal container. See for yourself:

Overnight Oats

Now that this peanut butter is gone (I don't want to waste any food we already have in our pantry) I can move on with my "clean" ways. To achieve this amazingness, I used what would otherwise be tossed into the trash due to the land of unreachable peanut butter jar crevices, and filled it with 1/2 cup vanilla almond milk, 1/2 cup raw oats and 1/4 scoop vanilla flavored whey protein. Put the lid back on, place in fridge and eat in the morning. YUMmy! Obviously, you can make up any concoction you wish, but this one is pretty darn good!

For dinner the other night, we enjoyed some fresh salmon on a cedar plank, grilled to perfection by Chef Hubs. It was literally to.die.for. I consider myself a salmon connoisseur (aka I order salmon EVERYWHERE we go) and so when I say this salmon was amazfest, I mean it!! Never will I ever buy frozen salmon in bulk bags again.

Mmmm....drooling.....nom nom...

We paired this bad boy with a sweet potato and side salad. The side salad was a doozy in itself too! Kale, spinach, cauliflower, radish, celery, carrots, feta and purple onion. Onion only on mine though. Chef Hubs dislikes onion VERY much. He also dislikes being around someone (wonder who that could be) who has recently eaten onions... ha!

For dinner tonight, I made a black bean sweet potato chili, courtesy of the Fitnessista. Her blog was literally the first blog I ever read on a regular basis and have been a die hard follower every since. I think I have been reading her blog for about two years now! She has no idea who I am, and has no idea about my little ol blog, so I am genuinely just giving her a shout out because, well, she deserves it! Anyways, here's some prep pics of dinner. Ch ch check it out! Yes, that first pic is chopped onion. As long as it is chopped up reeaally small and well cooked, the hubs can deal with it.

You can find the recipe on the Fitnessista's website, but here are the main ingredients (minus the almond butter, ha). I did add beef to mine, she doesn't. And, I found out that I do not have Cumin, so I substituted Coriander. It was goood. Now on to the maple almond butter. This brand has also been floating around the blog world so I knew that when I took the "other-than-peanut" butter challenge, I would just need to fork up the cash and try this one. I did get it on sale, but it was still more expensive than my regular peanut butter. I sliced up a cameo apple, got out my two TBSP of almond butter, and went to town. The TBSP may or may not have found its way back into the container after the allotted two scoops were gone... Ooops. Verdict: muy bueno!!

I did make some other "clean" purchases, but I won't bore you with all that right now. I'll share as I go along. Hopefully I can keep it up! There is a new store near me called, Earth Fare, that I am way too excited about trying out and hopefully will keep me motivated! I joined online and received a bunch of coupons, so we shall see. I want to make sure I don't raise the grocery bill, and this place might be dangerous! It looks similar to Trader Joe's and World Market, which are both fab stores!

Have a great night!!
