OCTOBER.... FINALLY!

Happy October! I am SO excited to be able to shamelessly share my love of Halloween/Fall decorations and not be worried about catching the side eye from those that say it is, "too soon".  Psh, too soon?! Never. With that being said, here goes...

Happy Fall!!

I'M GONNA POP SOME TAGS...

... Only got twenty dollars in my pocket.... LOVE that song! Right up my alley :)

Anyways, happy Wednesday! It's been raining on and off all day, so I took the opportunity to get some major house cleaning done. Ugh. But it needed it, badly. After getting some additions for our t.v. room I was a little more excited to clean everything, so at least that provided me with some motivation! We really needed more lighting and more seating in that room so I added some end tables, lamps, ottomans and a few new decorations. With our Derby party coming up I knew that it was a necessity to get more seating, STAT. Normally we would just pull dining room chairs in there if a couple more seats were needed, but I just don't want to have to do that anymore. Alas, I had to go shopping... ;) After a lot of online research (and coming across a lot of cute, super expensive things) I decided to do things the way I always do things... scour Home GoodS, TJ Maxx and Target. ha!

The table runner, glass dish and decorative balls all came from Home Goods. LOVE that store...  I actually got two of this dish so I could put one on the coffee table in the t.v. room. The balls came in a big bag with an assortment that I could choose from. They are too cute!

This super cute ottoman also came from Home Goods. It goes perfectly with our color scheme and is the perfect foot rest (and will also double as a seat) for our blue accent chair because the chair has a brown damask pattern on the back and also trimmed with nail heads. Mixing and matching is the best!

I snagged two of this ottoman from Target. Awesome for seating and also opens for storage. Score!

I also got the lamps, lamp shades and side tables at Target. Love that store, too! All the lighting was 20% off so I was pretty stoked about that. Placed the ottomans and side tables side by side. Love. I also snagged some super cute, dark brown wicker baskets to go under the side tables. One is holding our magazines and the other is holding an extra pillow we had. It definitely feels more homey in here just by adding more stuff. It just felt so empty before. Much cozier now! I also got a couple more of the wicker baskets in a smaller size to house our DVDs. Love.

The lamp shades have a very subtle yellowish-brownish threading through them that tie in our wall color so well, without being too overwhelming. The day I got all this was one of those days where everything just came together. I was rocking some major shopping good karma for sure!

Dinner the other night and breakfast this morning...mmm

Quinoa, grilled burger and salad.

Overnight oats: 1/2c oats, 1/2c almond milk, cinnamon, 1 packet Stevie, frozen fruit medley, raisins and some peanut butter. Prepared the night before, left in the refrigerator. Yum!

So, something very exciting happened today... I think I found my Oaks Day dress! I found it online at Forever 21. I am hoping it flares out a little more than it appears on the model. Worse come to worse I can return it. My Derby Day dress fit really well that I ordered from Charlotte Russe, so hopefully I will have the same luck!

Forever 21 $19.80
Fit & Flare Floral Lace Dress

I also decided to try out these pajama sets. They are wwaayy more affordable than my Victoria's Secret ones (I have the long sleeve/pant style sets from there) so I figured I would finally take the plunge and give them a shot. I am sure they will be just fine. Can't wait for them to get here! There were definitely more that I liked, but I'm a baller on a budget here! haha

Forever 21 $18.80
Satin Heart Print Pj Set

Forever 21 $18.80
Satin Leopard Print Pj Set

You can see the comparison to Victoria's Secret. I will give it to VS, though, because this set does come in several different patterns/colors, and there is something to be said about supplying variety. But, I bet Forever 21 will slowly release more as well, too. Quite the price difference, huh?!

Victoria's Secret $55
Satin Boxer Pajama Set

Tomorrow is Friday, yay!!!!

Have a great night!

NATIONAL CHAMPS

:)  NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!! Although the hubs and I did not get our same table that we had sat at for the past three or four games UofL still managed to pull it off! We ended up enjoying the game at a friend's house and it was perfect. Such an exciting day! Too bad the women's team couldn't pull it off, but at least they made it that far! Can't be mad about that.

Had to throw a pic in there!

HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS

Hey Hey! How was every one's weekend? We traveled, again, for my family's annual pre-xmas trip to good 'ol Branson, MO. It is one of my most favorite trips. We do the exact same thing every time, but I love it! Here's some fashion pics from the weekend.

Travel Day #1

Shopping Day #1

Shopping Day #2

Boots for Both Shopping Days

Branson, MO is basically Christmas on crack. And I.love.it. There is tons of shops and tons of entertainment. We never go to any of the shows or anything, although I wouldn't mind to some day. We like to just hit up all the outlets and little shops. And the guys (dad, brother, hubs) like to hit up the pubs. Ha! It is relaxing and fun. This year we did spice it up a bit, though, and did the, "Polar Express" which is the scenic train of Branson. It was the cutest thing in the world. We all got a commemorative mug with endless hot chocolate and sugar cookies, Santa and Mrs. Clause gave each child a bell (like the book/movie), a man hole punched our tickets, the homeless train hopper guy was there, and there was singing. Like I said, too cute!!

Before we left for Branson, I got out all of our Christmas decorations. Our house is now a winter wonderland! ha! The only thing we haven't done yet is to hang our lights on our house, but clearly that one is not my job. I'll have some pics later this week to share. Oh, and you know I hit up Home Goods and Michael's for a few new holiday, "pieces". Can't help myself!

Happy Monday! riiiight.....

HALF BATH HORROR

Happy Friday everyone!! I have been running around like crazy yesterday and this morning trying to pull everything together for my Stella & Dot launch party I am having tonight! I am so excited and also very nervous!! Not sure how many people are coming but I have plenty of drinks ready to be had. I will definitely share some pics of my setup and the party later this weekend.

As promised earlier, here is my lovely buffet/sideboard with the full length mirror hung sideways above it. We used two heavy duty anchors and heavy duty wiring (thanks to Home Depot) to hang this bad boy. I have visions of sugar plum fairies dancing in my head of it falling and shattering everywhere. The hubs assured me that this would not happen... I'm still skeptical. ha! When I walk in the dining room and look at it my first thought is, oh how beautiful, and then creeps in the soundtrack music to Jaws and those visions. As long as it makes it through my party tonight I will be happy (in all seriousness, I know it will not fall, especially if the anchors we used are any indication).

Love!

Now on to that half bath. Similarly to the closet doors in our master bath, this room left more to be desired. When we moved in we were pleased enough with just painting the walls and decorating. But the more we used the bathroom the more we started to notice a lot of imperfections (please understand that NOTHING is perfect, rather, things that really bothered us). The paint color we chose showed any teeny tiny mark or ding that we made in the wall or that was already there. Also, the drywall job done by the previous owners was not great in addition to the fact that the NONE of the walls are level or even (not all that uncommon, though). Also, there used to be wallpaper and when we tried to properly remove it, the wallpaper starting ripping down the drywall. Ugh. So after sanding down the wallpaper, we covered it with a layer of this special paint and THEN painted our color. So ,prior to the redo I am about to show you, we had done quite a bit to the bathroom already. Thus, project, "redo the redone half bath". Here are a couple before pics after we had already removed all decorations and the pedestal sink.

and after....

Home Depot $199
St. Paul Del Mar Vanity w/ Top

Target $24

I am OBSESSED with this textured wallpaper we decided on. It is from Sherwin Williams and I am in love.

The shelves we ended up using are from Target. We actually had a different set of shelves, also from Target, that almost became the death of me. Let's just put it this way: after already making holes in our newly wallpapered half bath, we realized that the shelves we bought were POS (pieces of shit, ha!) and that we were going to have to make a late night trip back to target in hopes that we could find something we loved. And, this was after staying up until 1200 the night before working JUST on these shelves. The problem started when we remembered how not straight and how bowed the back wall is. We then had to shim out the bracket for the shelf, and then it still didn't work. So we moved the bracket pieces that were on the actual shelf to try and solve it. Still no good. They were flimsy and could barely hold there own weight. I would have returned them but we semi broke one of them and it felt much better to just slam them in the trashcan. UMPH!!

Here is a pic of the POS shelves, just so you know what they look like, and not to buy them:

Well, any good home remodel doesn't come without some hiccups. It just blows my mind that of all the things we have done to our home, two measly wall shelves made things unravel for a minute there!! ha! All I know is my half bath is now the way I've always wanted it and the hubs and I are happy!

More to come on my Stella & Dot party!

Have a great weekend!!

PS I know I am very predictable but, GO CARDINALS!!!!!  Tearin' it up!!!!
